Blog #1 - 1.30.09 Friday

1. The different types of rhetoric shown on these websites are given through the different means of elements: the layout, photos, videos, animation, colors, text, gaming content, and real-life content. The websites show photos of guns, the army, battles, and etc. The layout, colors, and animation of the websites are dark, war-like, and realistic. By looking at the sample videos of the game, it seems thrilling, yet at the same time, it seems scary and dangerous.

2. The intended audience would be teenagers, mainly teenage boys. Without no realistic background of the army and battle. This game is definitely a persuasive knowledge and influential. It will show the boys what fighting on the battle ground is really like.

3. Yes, I agree with Navy veteran Boyle that this website/game indoctrinates the ideology of war. Especially younger boys will have the idea of this game in the back of their minds when they pick up a game or even see a gun. This game will definitely instigate a immature, younger mind. The media portrays the Iraq War in a very deadly and sad way. Even though, we know what is going on, it does not cover a lot of pictures and videos to help viewers visualize the content of what is really going on. On the other hand, this game definitely helps visualize the gamers in a harmful way.

4. Yes, I believe that this game will definitely encourage and instigate younger teens mentality and ideas. For example, when I was younger, I would watch television on MTV when there were sexual kiss scenes and content. I never really thought about it until I would see such action. Therefore, I believe that this game will have a big impact and arouse war in a kid's mind.
