1. Eating disorders are so common in America that 1 or 2 out of every 100 students will struggle with one. These pro-ana websites and blogs seems to encourage students to continue with the eating disorder. The blog and website is a safe haven for these strugglers. The encouraging words and the amount of pounds and food they lost and have taken in builds the motivation that these strugglers can do it too. These strugglers hardly eat at all and the small amount of food they do eat becomes an obsession. While people with anorexia often deny having a problem, the truth is that anorexia is a serious and potentially deadly eating disorder. Fortunately, recovery is possible. With proper treatment and support, these strugglers can break anorexia’s self-destructive pattern and regain your health and happiness. However, with these supportive websites, this pattern is bound to continue because these strugglers will find happiness in these "encouraging" words from the people that feel and act the same.
2. This pro-ana websites and blogs are pro-recovery groups that helps strugglers get through their problems. They don't focus on the disorder itself, but instead focus on the individual and possible reasons as to why disordered eating happened and offer solutions to these root causes. The blogs also have common feelings ranting about their struggles. The individual will feel that he or she is not alone, but can endure this struggle and get past it with other fellow strugglers.
3. Even though, the pro-ana websites and blogs are positive to these strugglers, they can also have a negative consequence to them. They do help individuals with his or her problem and offers solutions to these root causes. However, they do not help the cause and therefore the pattern continues. The individual will have friends who seeks help too and who share the same feelings through these blogs and websites, but they will help each other continue on with this disease/disorder, not help each other fix and resolve the situation or problem.
